Friday's Finishes!

It's been a good week for finishes!

Finish #1:

A mini/doll/wall quilt for my April doll swap partner.
Colorful star flowers on grass green and white...
a fresh breath of Spring!

And, of course, I needed to throw a bit of black and white sketch print into the mix!

Love this Queen Anne's Lace print for the backing!
And again, there is the fresh Spring green that is
so welcome after a long, cold winter!

A 12" star block for my April partner in the Christmas
Block Swap.
The pattern is called Thoughtful Star and is
in the recently reissued Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks,

Finish #3

April's block for the Ima Bee swap on Flickr.
The fab block design is Spinning Stars by the multi-
talented Anna Maria Horner.
So what else could I use except AMH's own Field Study fabrics!

Finish #4

A petite, spring sweater for my adorable granddaughter,

I couldn't resist this little guy...  so cute and such a
fabulous and easy pattern!

The pattern, called Fat Kitty (this is the Fat Bunny version!),
is by Just Jussi and is available here, on Ravelry.

And a little, tiny hat for baby brother from the
leftover yarn!

Lots of fun coming up next week, when Sew Mama Sew
hosts their semi annual Giveaway Day/Week!
I'll be participating with some yummy Giveaways
of my own!

So please be sure to check in Monday, May 6
to see what's in store!

Till then, have a wonderful weekend,
and thanks for looking!

It's Finally Here!!

Yes, indeed... it's been a long time coming, but it finally feels like Spring is really
and truly here!

And, in honor of this sweet but very short season, I've
decided to pull out this quilt top that I stitched up
last summer.
I'd like to have a light, bright quilt on my bed,
now that the warmer weather is on the horizon!

The pattern is from Elizabeth Hartman's wonderful book,
The Practical Guide to Patchwork.
I've used a selection of precuts from the Lucy's Crab Shack collection,
along with various light, neutral shades of Kona solids.

Spread out on the grass for it's photo shoot.
I think that it would also make a lovely picnic blanket!

I just can't  get enough of these retro plaids and flowers,
but it was the funky bicycles that really sold me on this collection.
Bicycles are a passion of mine!!

The block is a simple framed square design which showcases
the novelty prints nicely.
Swimsuits drying on the line...too cute!

The top is a bit wrinkly after it's long winter in the closet.
We are both looking forward to getting out into the
gentle Spring sunshine!

As are the trees in my yard!

Hope it's feeling like Spring where you are!

Till next time,
thanks for looking!

We Have a Winner!!

First of all, a big Thank You to everyone for making the April Showers
Mug Rug Blog Hop such a success!
And of course, special a special Thank You to everyone for
leaving such lovely comments!
You guys rock!!

So, without further ado, I'm thrilled to announce the winner of
my Seed Packet mug rugs.

These little cuties will soon be winging their way to
Vickie in Texas, who said:

I would love to win one of your mug rugs ! They're right up my ally, I'm a gardener too. "Sew" cute and love the paper piecing

You can check out Vickie's beautiful work on her blog,

Till next time,
Thanks for looking and let's get those gardens growing!

April Showers Blog Hop and a Giveaway!!

The theme of this Blog Hop is April Showers and to me that means one thing.
It's time to start thinking about the garden!

And, although planting season doesn't come around for
another few weeks in this part of the world, it's
the perfect time to peruse the seed catalogs and plan out the
perfect summer garden!

So when I stumbled upon these adorable seed packet
paper pieced designs by the v. talented Amy Friend
of During Quiet Time on Craftsy (see them Here),
I just knew that they would be perfect for mug rugs!

Two of my favorite things to grow are tomatoes and peas.
There are few things more wonderful in life than a freshly
picked tomato, still warm from the sun!!

And peas, picked and shelled and eaten in the garden... oh my!!

I decided to combine the paper pieced seed packets with
tomato and pea motifs fussy cut from a FQ of text fabric
 aptly named Seed Catalog.

I kind of like the way they turned out!

And to celebrate this April Showers Hop, I'm having a giveaway
of these mug rugs.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment,
and for a second chance to win, just become a follower
of my little blog, or let me know if you are one already!

The winner will be announced on April 18, so be sure to check back then.
As always, international entries are most welcome!

The Best Finished Friday Ever!!!

I finished this baby quilt a while ago!

Those of you who have being following
along with my little blog will recognize it.
It was made with love for a very special person.
Not knowing if that special person would be
a girl or a boy, I chose a gender neutral fabric for the backing!

This little boy is cute, but not nearly as cute as this little boy!!

I am over the moon about my new little grandson, Navyan!!

So I hope you'll excuse me for not posting a new project today,

I'm on Cloud Nine and anyway,

my daughter's Friday Finish can't be topped!!

Thanks for looking and a Happy Easter everyone!

WIP Wednesday/Where did the Mojo Go?

Welcome to my WIP Wednesday.
Things have been a bit slow around here lately, on the quilting front at least.
But I did manage to get back to a project that had been
on the back burner for a while.

This one.

It had been put on hold because I needed to wait for an order
to arrive with more of the grey sketch fabric
that I had chosen to use for the background.

In the meantime, I got involved with my doll swap quilts and
kind of forgot about this one.

But last week, with the doll quilts out of the way (for now, at least)
I decided to get back at this.
And I came to the realization, as I was cutting and sewing
many multiples of small pieces, that I really prefer the
almost instant gratification of the small quilt (doll quilt) format.

But I plugged on and then, just as I was getting my repetitive piecing mojo back...

This project is now on hold again, and I must confess, I'm not sorry to
put it aside for awhile.

Besides, I just got my April swap partner for the Doll Quilt Swap!
We've decide to swap a Spring themed quilt
and I can hardly wait to get started!!

Till next time,
thank for looking!
